Deep ruby with garnet hints. Aromas of red and black cherry, plum and dried fig over coconut, vanilla, leather and pipe tobacco. Medium-bodied with bright acidity, polished tannins and a long savoury finish marked by the classic American oak signature of Rioja Alta. Drinks beautifully with roast lamb, suckling pig, charcuterie, manchego or hard sheep’s-milk cheeses.

La Rioja Alta S.A.’s iconic Viña Ardanza Reserva — a blend of around 80% Tempranillo from Rioja Alta and 20% Garnacha from Tudelilla in Rioja Oriental, aged for 36 months in seasoned American oak with frequent racking, then a further 36+ months in bottle before release. One of Spain’s truly great traditional Riojas, and 2019 is a deep, classic vintage. Half-bottle format means the perfect pour for one or two.
