Pian delle Vigne Brunello di Montalcino is ruby red in color. The nose presents a complex bouquet of cherries, black cherries and blood oranges that follows over to notes of violets, vanilla, and light balsamic aromas. The palate is fresh, savory with silky, elegant tannins. The long, persistent finish is defined by notes of citrus fruit, delicate spicy aromas and hints of vanilla.

She notes it’s enjoyable now but will evolve beautifully through 2034.

Reflective of site this cool climate medium bodied wine is both silky and fresh with an elegant long finish.
Early indications for the wine are for beautiful varietal expression, with good length and textured mouthfeel.

Hamilton Russell Pinot Noir 2024 is produced from a low-vigour, stony, clay-rich soil, cool maritime mesoclimate, naturally tiny yields of well under 35 hl/ha and the philosophy of expressing our terroir in our wines – give rise to a certain tightness, tannin line and elevated length to balance the richness and generosity of our Pinot noir. This Pinot noir is not overtly fruity, soft and "sweet" and it generally shows hints of that alluring savoury "primal" character along with a dark, spicy, complex primary fruit perfume.

The dramatic Cape Storm of 23/24 September resulted in reduced yields following uneven flowering, although the overall season was a little warmer than the cool 2023. Yet despite all the challenges this Hamilton Russell Vineyards Pinot noir has lovely spicy notes, combined with fruit ripeness, richness and very fine tannins. Long, lingering aftertaste. High class. Great Aromas.

Graham Beck Cuvee Clive 2019 in the glass this Cap Classique looks youthful and exuberant, with a brilliant, bright and almost luminescent yellow hue and a slight tinge of green on the meniscus in the glass. A constant string of tiny bubbles rise to the surface, forming a gentle yet persistent mouse. On the nose aromas of white peach, fresh pears, granny smith apples and lemon zest abound, with undertones of roasted nuts, brioche and hints of spice developing as the wine opens up in the glass. The palate is crisp and vibrant, with distinct flavours of grapefruit, lemon, peach and apple amalgamating on the mid-palate, while pin-prick sized bubbles gently roll over the tongue and the fresh acidity leads to mouth-watering, juicy finish which lingers long after each sip.
